Erewhon is a true holistic supermarket, having one of the most extensive collections of health oriented specialty foods, which- in my experience- is only rivaled by Rainbow grocery in San Francisco.  Featuring  an extensive selection of raw foods along side vitamins, herbs and macrobiotic/natural  homeopathic remedies, nut butters, jams, local, foreign… and with some prepared foods Erewhon covers it all.

There is even a Tonic Bar, where you can get a custom remedy prepared for any symptoms you might have- just consult with the onsite juicer!

Erewhon is a bit pricy (though we found most markets to be more expensive on the West coast?), but totally worth the cost for the joy you bring to your body.  Many times after we left LA, we wound up wishing we had brought more healthier with us as we ambled north through the central Californian expanse.

Glittering Glamor greets your eyes as you enter Noztalgia, a stall at the end of the second floor of the Grand Market Hall (just above the mushroom displays).

Inside you will find a vibrant selection of high quality Ajka Crystal, Hollohaza Porcelain and hand painted Kalocsa Porcelain. Out of the entire market, Noztalgia is the best value.  Beyond that, you will find special pieces, not easy to find at any price in similar stores.  A great place to get specialty-ware that you will not find at any Bed Bath & Boredom.

Girasoles is a moderately priced vegetarian Restaurant and health food store.

Girasoles offers complete lunch specials, but you have to arrive early as they run out of  food starting about 1:30 PM.

It is also a good place to buy groceries, including free range eggs, whole wheat bread and the must delicious sesame seed horchata! If you bring an empty bottle,  they will fill it with the horchata, with or without sugar, and the same goes for the daily juice.
