Limosneros (lit. Beggars in Spanish), is in the middle of, and possibly the best restaurant in, downtown CDMX. It is a lively crossing ground for multiple types of Mexican cuisine.
Chef Atzin Santos deploys a tasting menu, taco menu and an a la carte menu. We appreciate the flexibility as one does not always want a full set menu. The cuisine likewise ranges from the experimental (see the Fresh raw tuna) to the comfortable classics.
The salsas constructed at the table is a lovely touch. Your water wheels over a pantomime of a desert cart. Instead of sweets, this one is full of dried and fresh chilis, herbs, oils, onions, garlic and more!

Drink
There is an excellent selection of artisanal mezcal which, of course, deserves sampling! Cunningly hung glass urns brimming with mezcal adorn the bar. At some point during your stay in Mexico; a solid Mezcal sampling session is a must. With over 30 varieties available, there is a lot to sample! In a location such as Limosneros you can try all the major varieties. Try a pour of tobaziche, tobalá, and arroqueño.
After a while you will realize that Espadin is the fastest-growing type of agave. This makes it the most profitable and thus what the big distilleries are producing the most of. While there are great Espadins, it is well worth exploring the other varietals. This attention to the width and breadth of national spirit is another reason Limosneros could be the best restaurant in downtown CDMX.
Vibe
The staff is lovely and provides the right amount of attention. The kitchen is friendly to vegetarians and other dietary restrictions. The lighting soft and lovely and the food scrumptious!
You can’t go wrong with Limosneros; an easy pick! (which is now shown by all its near 5-star ratings and top reviews as possibly the best restaurant in downtown CDMX across the web!)
