Founded in 1977 by Mr. M Y Khan, the eponymous Indian restaurant is still going strong. An institution in my college years, I first visited Kahn’s in 1992 for a dinner made famous in our family. 19 people, dishes and beer for all, cost £60. A quicker, cheaper, tastier curry in London I do not know.
The onion Bhajis, Tandoori specialties, and amazing nans are all well known. A standout is the Paneer Tikka, a plate of cottage cheese marinated with yogurt, lightly spiced & cooked in the tandoori oven. The Biryanis (rice-based dishes) are another favorite along with quite delicious organic juices.
I’m happy to say after 18 years, Kahn’s has continued the same traditions that made it a perennial favorite.
